The United States Government offers six Million Mosquito Nets to Malagasy people

Madagascar celebrated the World Malaria Day, yeasterday. As part of the event,  the US Government has offered six million mosquito bed nets to the Malagasy government. 12 million Malagasy people will profit this donation and they shall be protected  from malaria .   An upcoming national campaign will be organized for distribution.

Representatives from the United States (U.S.) and Malagasy governments participated in a hand over ceremony, of six million long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs) . The six million nets will support ongoing efforts to provide life-saving malaria interventions through out Madagascar.
 » The U.S. government, through its President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), led by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), donated the six million LLINs to the Malagasy government. The LLINs will be used in the Malagasy government’s 2018 mass distribution bed net campaign later this year and will protect twelve million Malagasy citizens against malaria in 57 health districts. The LLIN donation and campaign are aligned with Madagascar’s National Malaria Control Strategy, whose main objective is to eliminate malaria in this country. » said the Embassy in a Press Release.
The donated LLINs will be distributed free of charge through centers managed by the directors of primary health facilities.
